We have Installaware 12 (2012) and are a licensed site - that is, we have the key and the little program that gets run after install. We are now overhauling all of our machines and this morning I went to install Installaware 12 on my new computer, but each time I run the install I can select a Edition type (Studio Admin, Studio, Developer, etc.) and then continue the installation - yet each time I do that, selecting any of these, the installation starts and then I get an error (everytime) that says "Source File Not Found C:\PROGRAM...\mDIFxEXE.DLL". I have tried 3 different installation packages for IA 2012 and they are all dated the same, and same size - but ALL of them produce these results. This leaves me with a few questions...
1. How do I determine, from an existing install, what Edition it is?
2. Why is it telling me "Source file not found" when its the installation IA sent us? Is this not complete?
3. How do I get through this so I can move Installaware onto my new machine, and then delete it from my old one?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Dear User,
for what you are reporting, it seems that your product installer is corrupted or damaged.
1- the current Installed edition is reported in the top window title of the application.
2- As I said before, it seems that your product installer is corrupted or damaged.
If your product installer file size is about 22 MB, you are using the Web Installer version ... which doesn't include all the available features, but only the core files.
3- Unfortunately that version is not anymore available from our server.
Hope this helps you.
Regards

Re: How do I determine the type of setup to use?
Thanks for the help, although this is a bit sad. My installation file is actually 15.1 MB so I guess this is really a "loader" program which then gets the "beef" as a download from your web site. This makes sense since I would get warnings telling me the installation needed to download something, but each time I clicked "OK" the same dialogue just came back again. Sounds like its looking for something on your web site that is no longer there.
Is there any work-around? I am really hooked on IA 12 and have been using it for years. Now that I succeeded in talking the company into new machines, its going to be a hard-sell for the bean counters to learn they have to purchase software we already paid for all over again simply because we are changing machines. Is there any way I can get around this and continue using IA 12?
The alternative would be to keep my old machine working so that I could do one thing - build IA installations - and I don't think that is going to "fly" well either. I can understand any company stopping support for older versions, but making them totally inaccessible seems like overkill. I mean what the heck, bury it somewhere on your servers and don't advertise it, but I am sure I am not the only version 12 user still crunching code.
Any suggestions would be most welcome! I fear that our mighty bean counter might go nuts over something like this and say no, lets buy something that doesn't come with this kind of gotcha, and I will move to Siberia before I would go back to InstallShield!!!
