Displaying rich text format (rtf) in a control

Post by avi »

Hi,

I'm just doing my first steps with InstallAware.
What I need is to display rich formatted text in a control, reading it from a file at runtime (I guess another option
would be using multiple Support Files and loading one of them into a control).
I tried using the RichEdit control but it coudn't display rich text.
I also tried using the Label and Memo controls but they displayed the raw text that the file contains and not the formatted text.
Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Avi

Well, I guess I found a solution.

What I did was I added a new support file (Ducument2.rtf) to the setup project (which already contained a License.rtf file after I loaded in the User Interface section),
and before I show the Welcome dialog I run the following command:
Run Program $WINSYSDIR$\\cmd.exe /c move $SUPPORTDIR$\\Document2.rtf $SUPPORTDIR$\\License.rtf (WAIT)
with the options of "Hide Program Window" and "Wait For Program to Finish" both checked.

What it does is it runs the simple cmd command "move" (/c means terminate after the command ends) and replaces the original file with the one specified.
I didn't create a new dialog for that. I just used the licensecheck dialog that is supplied with InstallAware.

Works great for me.
Thanks,
Avi
