Setting Version with command line automated build

Post by MarkElder »

Hello,

I just got around to upgrading to version 8 and found to my suprise that compiler variables were removed from the developer version. This broke my automated builds.

As a workaround here is what I am doing. If anyone has any advice (other than shelling out the money for studio :-)) please let me know.

I changed my build script to write the current version number to a file called version.txt in the same directory as the installer source. Then right at the top of the script I am doing:

Code: Select all

Set Variable VersionLocation to
Define File Bag : #PROJDIR#\\version.txt, get runtime location of files into variable VersionLocation
Read from Text File $VersionLocation$\\version.txt into Variable VERSION
Set Variable TITLE to UAAR DataLog ($VERSION$)
