Install fails is service username doesn't have Logon rights

Post by cjoyce »

I'm using IA9 Studio. My installer installs a Windows service and prompts the user for the logon username and password. The install kept getting all the way to the end, copying files and then rolling back at the last moment on my desktop. So I checked the log and it was having a problem because the account I was providing for the service did not have 'Log on as service' permissions. As soon as I added this permission, my installer started working.

Is there a way to handle this error gracefully? I don't see a way to handle an error from this function. Is this the intended behavior?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

At present I'm afraid there is no way to handle this gracefully.
I'll log a request to put a return variable or some other trapping in to see if we can make this neater :)
