How to configure Validation check on TARGETDIR?

Hi,

in my msi, I have a dialog for user to define the installtion directory. As I want to prevent user to choose certain directories for installation, I'd like to validate the user's entry. What I'd like to achieve:
1) User enters intallation directory (TARGETDIR)
2) Validation check of installation directory
3) if fails, show a message and go back to dialog 1)
4) if ok, continue with the installation

Do you have any idea to reach that? I'm new with Windows Installer and I tried several things, but it didn't work.

You can't do this type of validation inside the dialog editor. All you can do it simple validation like disable Next unless the user has specified a target directory. So in the MSICode tab of IA, find where you dialog is displayed and immediately after that line, add your check. If it fails, just do a Goto Label to the same dialog and it'll reload and keep the user from moving forward. It is passes, you don't have to do anything because flow of control will go to the next dialog in the sequence.
