Service \" () could not be deleted.

Post by Will »

When trying to run my uninstall I get this message:

Service " () could not be deleted. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to remove system services.

Here's the situation: During the install process there are 5 services that I install. On the uninstall, I give the user the option to uninstall or keep those 5 services. I get the above error message only when the user decides to keep the 5 services. This is completely counterintuative because I'm telling the uninstaller to not uninstall any services, but the error message seems to imply i'm trying to uninstall some unnamed service...rather bizarre.

The installer was created with installaware2005

Hi Will,

This might be an issue with the version of InstallAware you are using. Have you tried with the latest 5.31 version?

Well, I installed the trial version of the latest installaware, tried again and everything works just fine. Looks like I have no choice but to upgrade.

Sorry to re-open this up but we are getting the EXACT same issue with the EXACT same message. We're not doing anything as special as the above just calling 'Control Service...stop and delete on uninstall' for 2 services.
