InstallAware for Windows Installer

Remove From Group

This command removes an existing user or group from an existing user group on the target system, target network, or the target domain at the global level.

Principal

Enter the name of the user or group to remove from a user group.

Group

Enter the name of the user group to remove the principal from.

You may remove your principal from one or more user groups. Call this command multiple times to revoke multiple group memberships of your principal.

To remove your principal from an existing, well-known user group (such as Administrators, Users, or Guests), choose the name of the user group from the Group combox-box drop-down menu. At runtime, InstallAware will automatically resolve this field to its localized value on the target system - you would not need to localize this field.

To remove your principal from a custom user group, such as one that you may have created with the Create Group command; type in the user group name manually in the Group field. Because this is now a custom user group, this field would then need to be localized.

Computer

Leave empty to perform the operation on the local device.

Enter the name of a network device to perform the operation on that network device.

Please note that the following Global Scope (Domain) parameter further impact the scope within which this command is resolved.

Global Scope (Domain)

Check this box to resolve all principal, group, and computer names globally, at the domain level.

Uncheck this box to resolve all principal, group, and computer names locally, at the network level.

 Warnings

  • Well-known user group names should not be localized, or they may fail to resolve to correct user group names on target systems, specifically on those that assign a different name to the user groups than the translated name.
  • Custom user group names may be localized as needed.
