InstallAware for Windows Installer

Set Memory Pages

This command configures whether the operating system uses small memory pages or large memory pages.

Small - 4 KB pages (default, lower performance)

This is the default setting on your operating system, and ensures the broadest compatibility with applications.

However, the performance of this setting is suboptimal for applications working with substantial amounts of memory.

Large - 2 MB pages (large, higher performance)

This is the higher performance setting for your operating system.

It has been found to increase performance by up to 30% for applications requiring substantial amounts of memory.

 Warning

  • While it would be unexpected, you may revert the large pages setting to small pages, should you experience extraordinary issues with your applications after making this change.

 Notes

  • The Apply Changes command will return REBOOT, even when no other installation actions require a restart, when changing your memory page size requires a reboot to take effect.
  • The Get Memory Pages command returns information on the current memory page setting, and whether a reboot is pending.
