InstallAware for Windows Installer

Patches (Deployment)

The Patches page allows you to build patches against older versions of your product installations. Patches are built using binary differential scans and contain only the delta of the changes between the older setups and the newest setup.

Adding Patch References

Before you may build a patch, you need to let InstallAware know where it can find the older versions of your setup. If you are planning to create patches, it is best to keep all old versions of your product handy, so you can reference them in your patches:

  • Click the Add button to add an InstallAware setup to your project as a patch reference.
  • Click the Remove button to remove previously added patch references.

You may only add InstallAware setups as patch references to your project.

Building Patches

Once you have added your patch references, click the Build Patch button and watch InstallAware build a patch that upgrades your older versions to the latest version with just a single click of the mouse!

When the patch is built, click the Browse button to go directly to the build folder containing your patch files. You may now distribute your patch to end users.
