Set Manufacturer of setup file

Postby ajoschi » Mon Dec 03, 2007 9:27 am

Hi.

I try to certify my software for Windows Server 2008. I use InstallAware to create a single file MSI installation file. An MSI installation is needed to pass the certification tests.
Also needed is that the manufacturer of the Installation file is the software vender (So our company name e.g.: "My Company"). I set the manufacturer to "My Company" and the resulting single exe Installation file has also set the correct company (Properties / Version / Company). When I create the MSI installation file by using InstallAware (Design / Tools / Group Policy), the tool Orca (Verification tool that is used by Microsoft) told me that the manufacturer of this file is "Install Aware Corporation".
How can I improve this, so that the manufacturer of the .msi file is also set to "My Company". If this is not possible, I will not be able to create MSI Installations that fulfill the Microsoft Server 2008 Certification test criteria.

Can you please help me out?
Thanks and best regards,
Ajoschi

An MSI file create with IA Group policy is completely editable with Orca. Use Orca to edit it. In the Property table, change the Manufacturer field from "InstallAware Software Corporation" to your company's name. That will do it.

Thanks for the quick answer!

This work for sure, but is this the recommended way to do this?
I mean, this way I will have to use this orca for each update I would like to provide to my customers as MSI Installation file.

Do you know if it is possible to call orca with any command line switch in order to do this?

Thanks and best regards,
Ajoschi
