Hi,
We are using build 5.31 elephant_sp3.06-326 and have translated to Japanese. The problem is that some controls on the dialogs (Labels and Radio buttons, it seems) are not properly rendering the translated text (it appears the same way as if you would view it on a machine using US english as the regional language setting (which means it just looks mangled). We started out by using the Alpha theme for dialogs.
Static Text controls and edit text controls render fine, as do buttons.
Is this a known issue? Is there a version where this is fixed? We are trying to get a product to a Japanese customer and need to figure this out quickly.
Thanks again for any help,
Peter
Problem with specific controls rendering Japanese
Solved
As it turns out I found a utility called the "Dialog Batch Updater" which ships with the product. I used it and let it modify all the dialogs to use SHIFTJIS_CHARSET.
It would be nice if the product documentation reflected this step as AN IMPORTANT part of the localization process to ensure dialog controls render correctly. I'm guessing that this step would need to be perfomed for any translation to a non-western based language since there is no Unicode support.

pmessina,
You are so right. That was the right way to go. Thanks for posting it since we forgot to give you that solution ourselves.
