Hello,
I was wondering whether it is possible to use variables (my own variables), for example, in Shortcut path, using InstallAware 6 Express.
I would like to create a Shortcut, that doesn't reference a file that my setup installs but a file that is on a remote computer. I would like to set the computer's name by a variable.
Also, I would like to know if (if it is possible to use such variables) it is possible to read them from .ini file?
Thank you in advance.
Momchil Ivanov.
Using variables in InstallAware Express
I have an additional (and more up-to-date
) question:
It is possible to set variables from command line, for example:
setup.exe MYVAR=C:\\hello.txt
However, it seems that this is possible only with exe file?
I mean, is it possible to do something similar if I had a group-policy (.msi) single setup file?
Generally speaking, I would like to set variables used in .msi file from outside (.ini file or from command line).
Thank you once again!

You answered your first question yourself. You are able to use variables by setting them from command line. However, it is only possible with the exe file, and not with msi file.
