Installaware repacking methods

Postby cyr0nk0r » Sun Feb 05, 2012 12:11 pm

http://www.flexerasoftware.com/pl/8965.htm

Does InstallAware have a repacking method similar to InstallShields "Installation Monitoring" ?
I do not want to do snapshots.

I'm also wondering how to setup InstallAware to NOT add itself to the Add Remove Programs, after an installation. Other software I've used has an easy to find checkbox or method to easily not add itself, but I can't find anything in the options of InstallAware.

Hi,

This is called Setup Capture in InstallAware and is available with our Studio Admin edition:

Regarding your second question, it is possible to do so. All you have to do is remove the ARP entries after calling Apply Install while the Native Engine is on (so that no execution caching occurs).

Do you have a link to any documentation about how Setup Capture actually works?
It is actually like the installation monitoring that installshield where it "watches" the install, or do you have to take snapshots.

"All you have to do is remove the ARP entries after calling Apply Install while the Native Engine is on"
Wouldn't it just be easier to make a check box that just says "don't add to add/remove programs" ?

Hi,

The tool is actually described in our F1 help files, available anywhere in IA.

We will definitely consider this feature for future releases.
