Hi,
We are running into the following problem scenario:
- build an MSI the normal way
- Test it, it works
- rename it, leaving the msi extension
- Test it, and it fails with a 'network error', while the file is on a local disk.
Please note that the attached screenprint refers to the original name of the MSI.
What gives, can't we simply rename an MSI file? Is there some issue that prevents this?
Highest Regards,
Dre'

Re: Can't rename MSI afterwards
That's like trying to rename a DLL file your application uses, and being perplexed and why it's not working
Of course you cannot do that.

Re: Can't rename MSI afterwards
One could argue that if I change Word.exe to MyWord.exe, I'd still end up with a working Microsoft Word application.
But maybe I can't and shouldn't compare MSI with EXE...
Anyway that's beyond the scope of this forum. I just like to check one thing:
Is the output name of the project the controlling factor in the 'final' name of a MSI?
Or in other words: By changing the output-name, I can create multiple MSIs doing exactly the same, but with different names?
(Let us not reminiscence on why I would want this in the first place, let's assume I just do
