Patches (Deleting and Replacing files)

Postby Sarah » Wed May 22, 2013 8:58 am

Hello,

1. i want to create a patch that delete a file on the target system...is that possible? If yes, how i can do this?

2. On the following site " viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9343", there was the following comment for creating patches:

"The setup locic must be the same across your projects.
To be more clear, the patch project must be the exact copy of the base project.
If for example, in your base project you install File A and File B and with the patch you replace file B, the installation of file A must be still present in your patch project. "

Is it necessary to include file A in the patch project, when only file B should be replace on the target system?

I am very thankful for a response.

Dear Sarah,

yes, it is correct.

Patches are built using binary differential scans and contain only the delta of the changes between the older setups and the newest setup.

Hello,

i have build a setup which should install fileA, fileB, fileC on the target system. This files are listed under "Setup Architecture->Files" .
Now i install this setup on the target system.
In the next step i created patch1, which change the content of fileA, fileB, fileC. I run this patch1 on the target system and the changes are taken. Till this step, all is ok...But ....
In the next step i create patch2 which should delete file A . I delete this file in the "Setup Architecture->Files". So that only file B and fileC are listed. Then I build patch2. After installation of the patch2, the file ist not deleted from the target system. Should i make any other settings for deleting files for patch .

Best regards
Sarah

Dear Sarah,

have you included in each patch project the correct patch references?
