Hi:
I am learning doing patching now. Try to build a .msp file. I followed the instructions in this white paper (http://www.installaware.com/installaware_patching.pdf) to create a test project using IA Studio 2012. Everything is correct if I use the .exe file (under patch folder). However, if I use .msp file, the behavior is totally different from that of .exe. There are 2 pop-up windows - as in attachment - (for 2 different installation processes) and no matter the option that I chose, the patch was not applied.
Just wonder:
- if anyone have same experience?
- if anyone is able to create a .msp file successfully? if yes, could you advise me what I should do to get rid of double "installation" pop-up windows.
Thanks
Nhan

Re: Patching: weird behavior when running .msp file
Thanks Francesco.
Now, I learn that it's impossible to have a standalone workable .msp; which makes me curious if IA has any installation product that can produce working .msp files (without wrapping in .exe)? I asked like this because we received an email about Unicode InstallAware 16 which mentions about generating MSI and MSP databases. What is the point of generating them but could not use them as-is?
Thanks again for all info.
