File permissions for files in destination folder

Postby BirdGuy66 » Tue Jun 09, 2015 1:45 pm

With my company's installs, the user has two options when choosing a destination folder:
    1. Standard location: application files to C:\Program Files\<Company Name> /data files to %UserProfile%\Documents\<Company Name>
    2. Custom location: application and data files to directory of their choosing, with the default being C:\<Company Name>

When a custom destination folder is created, among it permissions Modify privileges for the Authenticated Users group.
    1. For installs built with InstallAware 18, files installed under the destination folder get the Modify privileges for the Authenticated Users group.

    2. For installs created with InstallAware X2, files installed under the destination folder do not get permissions for the Authenticated Users group and that group does not appear in permissions.

This causes problems when the user attempts to modify and save a file that was just installed. Is this a bug? I realize I can get past this using Set Access Control but shouldn't the installer behave the same? Was this a know issue fix with the latest build? We currently have build 19.6.0.2014 of X2.

Dear Rik,

the list of what fixed in IA 19.08 it's available with the following link.
http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10289

I suggest you to updated your product to the latest version (19.08) anyway (use a re-generated license file to activate the product).
If the problem still persists, please send me a very minimal project (as compressed archive) that replicates the issue at: support@installaware.com.
