InstallAware Updates

Postby EricB » Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:05 am

Yesterday I manually ran the "InstallAware Updates" to see if there were any updates and install them if there were. The InstallAware Updates program indicated that version 6.04 was available and I told it to download and then tried to install it. I got an error about an invalid password, and then update application shutdown. Now when I run it, it does not see the update (it doesn't really do anything).

This happened on 2 different machines.

How do I get InstallAware to see and install the 6.04 update?

Thanks,

Eric

By the way, the reason I haven't just downloaded and installed the version from the web site is that is says that it is version 6.03 and not 6.04.

Erix,

Try runnning the update manually again and see what happens now, I think Michael @ IA has resolved this issue.

This time it found version 6.05, but I still get the same error. I have attached a screen shot of the exact error.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,

At this point, search your documents and settings folder for "installedupdates.dat" and delete.

This will allow the updater to find the update again.

I would wait until next week before trying to update again to give Michael a chance to get this recolved, the 6.04 and 6.05 are very minor tweaks that is why they have not been posted on the downloads page, you are not really missing anything.

Sorry for the trouble.

Jim,
Thanks. I deleted 2 "installedupdates.dat" files (1 for v6.01 and 1 for v6.04 and v6.05).

I will wait until next week to re-try the updates.

Thanks again,

Eric

Hi Eric,

This issue has been resolved - our update configuration file was erroneously passing an incorrect password to the download update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You may directly install your update at your leisure by downloading the latest trial version directly from the public website. Also, remember to update your license file and reinstall it after updating.

Michael,
I am still getting the same error. I deleted the 2 installedupdates.dat files that were found on my machines, and then executed the file "C:\\WINDOWS\\Installer\\InstallAware 6 Updates for All Users.lnk" (this is what the "Scheduled Task" points to) and got the exact same error on 2 different machines.

Eric,

Please update from the main website. Your webhost has probably cached the wrong file and is serving it instead of the updated file.
