UNSOLVED / uninstall problems (vista)

Postby pkeil » Tue Apr 03, 2007 4:56 am

IanM posted a major problem here:
http://forums.installaware.com/viewtopi ... +uninstall

He never got a response and I am wondering why. This must affect a lot of users.

I am not able to uninstall our setup on vista machines for the same reasons, too. It works under every other Windows version like XP or 2k.

So ...?

Ok, i just discovered that the uninstall problems are depending whether you use a flash movie in your setup or not.

If so, you will be not able to uninstall under vista. Alpha is the style i used for my test setup. Totally strange i think.

Curious - I'll see if i can get someone in Dev to investigate this.

I wonder if it is due to Vistas new security on ActiveX objects (and therefore flash).

This has been confirmed to be an issue in Vista. For some reason, when a Flash control is created, the Windows Installer engine cannot be accessed during uninstall!

R&D has built in a workaround - when Vista is used and the Flash control is being run, the Windows Installer engine will be accessed in a different way. An update should be available soon.
