Hi,
We have experienced a major problem using GPO software installation (machine install).
We can see that the rollout of the MSI packages is being done on the startup screen of Windows XP.
But the installation does not work. One package is installed but seems to be installed for the current user only. When registering a DLL manuall after install it works.
Another package leave not trace in the program files folder even though we can see that the package is run and is listed under the Uninstall in registry.
All these packages work perfectly when run manually.
Please help!! GPO is the reason taht we bought IA.

Hi,
We have several issues:
1. In one package the install runs, but does not seem to do anything. When running manually it works.
2. In another package it seems to be running fine, but does not work since it seems to install for a specific user. Which user this is is not clear since it's a machine install during startup. When we manually register a dll it works. Again this works perfectly when running maually.
Both of these installs are machine installs, and not user installs in the GPO. I suspect that it has something to do with all users and current user install. ALLUSERS=True is set in code and also in the command line of the GPO wizard
Steps:
1. I see that the package is run when starting up windows, but it runs very quickly
2. No files are copied, and no registry entries are written
3. I log in and run the package manually. And then it works
When importing the MSI package into a trial of Wise Installer and then repack it, it works.
So there is something wrong with IA
We used Inno setup before but needed MSI packages. This was the only reson that we did this. So this issue is critical.
We can send you the IA package so you can check for yourselves.
Please help!!

Which MSI exactly did you repack in Wise? I think you're on the wrong track there actually, but it would still be nice to hear what changed in the MSI.
I would suggest you turn on logging to find out what's going wrong. Is the actual setup firing at all?

We have a SAPI4.MSI that installs SAPI4.
I dont know what changed in the Wise. I opened the MSI package, set AllUsers and repacked it. Dont actually know it this made the difference. But it worked.
How do I set up logging ?
I can see that the setup is firing when Windows XP starts.
And as I said I could send this setup file to you.
