@casic: There's a small problem in upgrading IA. If someone has already used IA 6.0 and your Language pack,
then upgrades to IA 6.5, the default installation path is changed from InstallAware 6.0 to 6.5.
The Language pack is still in the old place. If I then do a repair install of the language pack,
some files are stored in the old location, some files (the dialogs) are installed in the new location and the global strings are not replaced.

Hi Martin,

please re-install (complete uninstall / install) the German Language Pack for InstallAware if the installation location of InstallAware changes. This solves the problem.

It's also necessary to re-install or repair the German Language Pack installation every time after updating InstallAware because the global string file will be replaced by the InstallAware setup.

Thank you,

Markus

That's what I always do and the last step is always the copy action of updated dialogs.

On my PC the initial dialog is still in english language. The following steps how to demonstrate:

1. Download the trial version 6.5 Released On: April 23, 2007
2. Generate and download a license
3. Install the license file
4. Download the German language pack from http://www.casic.de/
5. Install the German language pack
6. follow the instructions from the language pack documentation
7. copy all folders excluded the folder ‘Update Official’ from the path C:\\Program Files\\InstallAware\\InstallAware 6.5\\Language Packs\\German\\Updated Dialogs\\InstallAware 6.00 to the folder C:\\Program Files\\InstallAware\\InstallAware 6.5\\Dialogs an overwrite all existing dialogs
8. Copy the content (all files) from the folder ‘Update Official’ into the folder C:\\Program Files\\InstallAware\\InstallAware 6.5\\runtimes and overwrite the files inside this folder
9. Create a new project (no web based project) that has a singe file as output file
10. Start the Localization Wizard
11. Export the translation into an folder you created before
12. Start the Language Pack Wizard from CASIC
13. Refers to the folder, that contains the translation files you exported before
14. Translate the files into German (Version 1.0.34)
15. set the option to overwrite all existing translations
16. finish the Language Pack Wizard
17. Start the Localization Wizard again
18. Import the new translations
19. Start Edit Global String to control to check whether the translations are set correctly (there are)
20. Compile a singe setup file
21. Start the Setup and see, that the initial dialog is still in English language

Maybe this is also important for you: The text that appears in the initial dialog is: ‘InstallAware is recomposing the data that will install this application. Please wait.’ If you start the Edit Global String tool, there is no entry with this text, so it is not possible to translate.

That text hasn't been used for various versions. Why don't you try to create a fresh setup from scratch, and see if that can display German strings in the very first dialog properly. Then we will know if its a project level setting you have that is wreaking havoc, and continue our investigation from there on.

You can read on my posting, that i have created a new project. This dialog text ist still thre and there is now way to translate. Markus Dittrich from CASIC wrote to me, that he didn't know this text. IS it possible that this text only appears in the Developer Edition?

Marcus,

do you have the same problem if you create an uncompressed or web based setup?

Marcus,

It sounds like we will have to take a deeper look at your setup project and your build environment to isolate why its working for everybody else but not for you. You may need to provide us with VNC or Remote Desktop access to your workstation where this issue is occuring.

I don't think posting further on the forums will be of any help to you, or other visitors of the forum, since nobody else seems to be able to reproduce this issue except for you. Could you please order a support incident for further investigation?

1) Also a web based installation takes the text in the initial dialog ‘InstallAware is recomposing the data the data that will install this application. Please wait.’

2) I reinstalled InstallAware Developer and installed it as Studio Edition. Here is the same problem.

3) I’m not sure how you want to get a VPN Connection on my PC, but I want to try

Hi there,

after a long VNC-Session with Marcus I can confirm the reported problem with the first initial dialog. I was able to reproduce this problem on my own machine too. To reproduce the issue please install the latest setup and choose "Developer" at the product edition selection dialog. The problem occurs only when installing the Developer Edition! After the installation create an empty Win32 setup project and build a single setup. Execute the created setup and have a look at the first initial dialog. You will get the dialog text "The InstallAware Wizard is recomposing the data that will install this application. Please wait." which is not available in the translation.* files of the \\trans subfolder. Normally you get the text "The InstallAware Wizard is verifying the contents of this setup package. This may take a moment." at the first initial dialog which is also available in the translation.* files of the \\trans subfolder. The problem with the unknown text also exists if you uninstall the developer edition and install the studio admin edition! I think, the problem relies on the 7zip installation which displays the first initial dialog... or I'm wrong?

Please have a look at this issue - I'm currently also not able to build new setups with complete translations because something is not removed after uninstalling the developer edition :-(

Thank you very much,

Markus

Are there any news of this topic? Is it possible to solve this problem in the coming release?

This is a very strange case indeed. I have escalated to R&D and requested a fix for the next update.
