Format of AvailableDiskSpace and TotalRequiredSpace

Postby mreichl » Thu Apr 12, 2007 6:31 am

Concerning the feature request in this thread
http://forums.installaware.com/viewtopic.php?t=1888&highlight=disk+space.

Is there a plan to include the possibility to format AvailableDiskSpace and TotalRequiredSpace in one of the future updates?
We got a lot of feedback from our customers who think that the current display of the disk space, that is the format, is a bit confusing and not very readable.

At present it's on our wish list, but not scheduled to be implemented in the near future - sorry :(

I will add my vote to this. The "smart" formatting can be quite confusing, specially when the end user doesn't look carefully at the units:

Available: 1,186 MB
Required: 25,318 KB
Remaining: 1,162 MB

-or-

Available: 115,784 MB
Required: 423,572 bytes
Remaining: 115,370 MB

IMHO expressing all values in KB (or even just bytes) is more appropriate.
