Hi,
Ok, I could write many paragraphs to explain my problem in detail, but I am going to give it a try with a summarized version:
1. We send out DVD's on a monthly basis. We started using InstallAware 3 months ago.
2. While building the setup for the 1st DVD set, I didn't check the "Permanent File" option on one of the files. This is where my trouble started.
3. While building the setup for the 2nd month, the only way to prevent an uninstallation of the 1st setup, was to give the setup a new "Product Code" - not a good option.
4. The 2nd setup did not uninstall the 1st setup, but we had a number of users who encounterd a "Network resource not available" error at the end of the installation (I believe this is due to the fact that I have given the setup a new Product Code, but the name etc. remained the same).
5. We're now preparing the 3rd setup. Again, I expect a lot of headaches...
So, my question is: Is it possible to create a brand new setup, which will "merge" or "consolidate" the previous setups - i.e. After running this brand new setup, the MSI database will have no reference to the previous messed up setups?
BTW: I am using IA Express at the moment.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks.
Ian.
I need some help please!
