i must be doing something wrong!

Postby dbce » Mon Sep 12, 2005 7:09 am

i am trying to make a setup that will deploy with group policy. all i am doing at this point to start is putting internet short cuts on desktop. if i just run the msi file it works great. but when i try to use group policy it does not install. i can use group policy to install other apps, which leaves me to beleive that i have not set something right in the install product. any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Are you using the Group Policy Wizard?

I mean, the Group Policy Wizard that ships with InstallAware to wrap your setup inside a single MSI file?

That sounds right. We'll need more information:

1) What is the exact problem you are experiencing with Group Policy?
2) What type of shortcuts are you trying to create?
3) Have you tried to specify a log file in InstallAware's Group Policy Wizard for diagnostics in troubleshooting the setup?
4) Are there any error messages?
5) What type of deployment are you choosing in the Active Directory Group Policy Editor?

i am doing an assigned. and it is installat log on. when you logon windows says installing managed software. it shows up in control panel but it acts like it is waiting to be installed. there is no signs of it in program files. or on the programs menu. the only thing it is doing is putting an intra net url on the desktop. so there is no file type to assoc. with.

Are you using the /s silent command line parameter that the InstallAware Group Policy Wizard recommends?
