Dialog problem in Wizard Loop

Postby mshipley » Wed Jul 25, 2007 1:30 pm

I'm using the IA 6.6 and the Alpha theme for dialogs. In debug, when I step past the Wizard Loop in following code:

wizard loop
Display Dialog: welcome, wait for dialog to return (modal)

Two dialogs appear: 1) some "rogue" Alpha-theme dialog that shows variable names instead of variable values (e.g., dialog displays $TITLE$ instead of the setup title text value); and then 2) the correct Welcome dialog displays on top of the "rogue" dialog.

I can't find any reference to this rogue dialog in my script. I thought that maybe the welcome dialog form might be corrupted, so in my project folder, I replaced the .dfm and .dfm.miaf files for Welcome and for Wizard with copies known to be good, but that had no effect.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this behavior?

I'm having a somewhat similar problem, again using IA 6.6 in debug. When I try to run in debug I'm getting a pop up error msg that says Runtime error in setup script: Line xxx: Cannot open file "C:\\xxx\\xxx\\.dfm". The system cannot find the file specified. an example error is attached. Note the missing dialog file name.

I was using debug because I had just put a new dialog into my installer, so I thought maybe it had gotten corrupted. I finally took the new dialog out and reverted back to .mpr and mia files I knew were working. Tried debug here and got the same error msg. Finally tried stepping thru the script and I hit the error upon stepping into the wizard loop command.

After this error comes up, IA is locked up. Have to end the miae.exe process with task manager.

I wish for an IA 6.6 fix.

I had to create a new project and repopulate it. Then the odd behavior was eliminated.
