Sorry, we don't provide actual disks, and in the case we do, we would provide a disk with the same contents as the runtime install, so it wouldn't make any difference.

The exact message we were getting when trying to upgrade from 6.6 to 7.0 is:
The source installation package for the product InstallAware 6 is out of
sync with the client package. Try the installation again using a valid
copy of the installation package 'myahe.msi'.

After not getting any meaningful assistance from the support staff at InstallAware (other than my "myahe.msi" file - whatever that is - was missing), I decided to do some digging on my own to try to troubleshoot why the installer for InstallAware 7.0 would not install.

First, I tried re-installing 6.6. This gave an undefined variable error in script line 15. (I do not have the exact wording of the error message, sorry.) However, I was able to retrieve a "mia1" folder from C:\\Documents and Settings\\[myusername]\\Local Settings\\Temp\\ (before the script terminated, deleting the folder's contents.) This contained the correct (version 6.6) myahe.msi file (and supporting files.) Now I needed to figure out where to put it.

I noticed that the C:\\Documents and Settings\\[myusername]\\Local Settings\\Temp\\mia72B.tmp\\data folder (also created during the failed 6.6 install) had a 0kb file of {1AFF3E5C-E67C-4D36-8478-8C36491440C2} - obviously a classID of some sort. I searched the registry, and found that a matching directory should be in C:\\WINDOWS\\Installer. That directory was there, but even more interesting were two shortcuts for InstallAware 6.6 Updates. These were pointing to:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\[myusername]\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\{73115EB5-FE08-42B4-ACB3-BC0445746BEA}\\myahe.exe

Aha.

This folder was missing from my PC. Why? I do not know. I strongly suspect that it was never created by the initial install of version 6.6.

I placed the contents of the mia1 folder into a newly created {73115EB5-FE08-42B4-ACB3-BC0445746BEA} folder and ran the 6.6 setup (to *hopefully* repair any remaining corruption.)

It failed with the same error on line 15.

However, I decided to try the 7.0 installer. This time it worked! It located and uninstalled version 6.6, then proceeded with the 7.0 installation without any further problems.

In the interest of sharing this information with other InstallAware users, I have posted this report on this discussion forum, as I am sure that others may have similar situations, and need a work around.

Its quite unlikely others will have similar situations. Your InstallAware folders were manually deleted, which caused this error - as I already explained to you over email.

If I went around manually deleting files and folders on your system (try system32 next time), I wouldn't complain too much about meaningful assistance ;)
