Creating custom target folders

Postby dstenc » Wed Sep 28, 2005 7:31 am

I'm evaluating InstallAware and I've come to blocking point.
For some reason, software that we use doesn't need to be installed as other common Windows applications. It needs to be installed to 3 different folders, each one on separate drive.

Example:
C:\\FolderXYZ
D:\\Something
E:\\OurApp

How can I add that 3 folders as target folders so I can include files in them??? All I can do by now is to put files in predefined folders.

Thanks in advance!!!

Easy to do that. Just add the files to a particular folder. Then double-click the file (or choose multiple files, right-click and choose Edit), and update the Target Folder property. Usually it will be something like $TARGETDIR$, which denotes the folder chosen at the "Destination Directory" dialog. You can replace this with any path, such as C:\\Something.

Note that its best if you avoid hard-coding paths like this, but you certainly can, if your needs so dictate.
