Use an Add-Remove Icon without overriding the setup icon

Postby abz » Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:30 pm

Am wondering if you could provide some pointers as to how I can assign an icon that will show up in the Add-Remove panel but will not override the setup executable or extractor icons.

Many thanks

What you can do is select the icon you want for the installer when building the project. In order to change the icon for the ARP, make sure the icon file is in the target computer, (you can include it as part of the installation), and set the value of the following registry key to the icon file:

HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\$TITLE$\\DisplayIcon

It doesn't seem to work. I added the key in the Registry section of InstallAware setup. After installation, the DisplayIcon line still pointed to C:\\ProgramData\\****\\Setup.exe. My addition was overruled.
