Error when installing shortcuts for all users under Vista

Postby ivssys » Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:16 am

Hello,

Last week we bought InstallAware Stodio 7.5, since we were very satisfied when testing the trial version 7.0.

Now we haves 1 problem with an installation we made: If you choose to create shortcuts for All users under Vista, the installation halts with an error (without description). If you choose "Only current user", the installation runs fine. Also with Windows XP this problem doesn't occur. Any ideas?

In Vista you need to make sure the user that is installing have the proper rights to perform per-machine installations, and not only per-user installations.

That was not the problem. The strangest thing happens.
- I made a good, working installation of program A. Installs also fine for all users.
- I saved the installation project to a new folder F, with a new name N. I also saved the install script to this folder F with name N.
- Next, i modified this copied project so it installs program B (only slight modifications).

Now, this modified project builds, installs and runs fine using WinXP, but the above problem occurs with Vista.

Today, I made a new project for B, starting from scratch: Works great. So what did I do wrong when trying to copy my project?
