I'm trying to build or start InstallAware from Visual Studio 2008 SP1 using IA9 and I get the same error in the preceding post.

Are you able to send us a VM of your environment to help reproduce this issue?

Not sure what you want me to see from the support-service-options. I have paid $$$ for gold support, so I would hope that I get a different response to my problem:

Yes I could take the time to download and install VCenter Converter make an ISO image for you, run the VMplayer and remove sensistive information, burn a DVD or put it up on our FTP server for you to download -but that will take a lot of my precious time I don't have to spare.

I just installed the latest version of IA9 on an x64 Vista Business SP2 w/ 8GB RAM. I have fresh install of VS2008 SP1. I carefully generated a new IA9 installaware project from my VS2008 project using the toolbar features in the VS2008 IDE (wary of past issues -- see my tickets). The installaware project builds fine and installs fine. I get the error only when I use the VS2008 toolbar features as noted. I use a larger portion of the VS2008 IDE and it is working fine - no other issues to report on this PC, VS2008 etc.

Unless you already know the conflict that is causing this issue, I'm afraid since we cannot reproduce it locally, we'll have to ask for the VM. Please re-read the support policy page as this is described in detail there under "Elusive Issues".

Same problem here: Access violation ... miaauto.dll

Postby Richard Trans » Wed Jul 29, 2009 4:57 am

Just installed InstallAware9 to test and compare its integration with Visual Studio 2008 setup projects. Installed on Win Vista 64 bit.

When i click "InstallAware", "Build Setup" I get the error:
Error during build: Access violation at address 0F3E56C0 in module 'miaauto.dll'. Read of address 00000268.

I see others had the same problem, but see no solution.
Any ideas of solution?

It is at very simple project. Windows Forms Application with 1 form and 1 button doing nothing.

We'll need you to send us a VM that reproduces the issue (since we're unable to reproduce it locally).

I have the same problem with IA 9 (Build Moya.sp1.070409, downloaded for Evaluation). I am not sure whether we have VMWare. May I send you a zip file of the project directory?

I generated the setup project from within Visual Studio 2005, and then tried Build Setup. It failed with the same message as everyone here has. Then I opened the generated project with InstallAware and tried to build it. It failed again. I noticed that the plugins for the .NET 2.0 were not installed while .NET 2.0 was chosen in the Application Runtimes, and so I installed them. After that I started IA again, and now I could build it. However, when I run Build Setup from within the Visual Studio, it fails again.

We have been having great difficulty producing a working example of this in the office on our machines, and we need a lot more detail with cases of this error in the hopes that we can get a configuration exhibiting the same problem in order to fix; or we need a system image to work with.

Can you at least post full information (version, bitness and build at least) of:

- Windows
- Visual Studio
- InstallAware

I have:
Windows XP Professional, Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234 (Service Pack 3)
Visual Studio 2005, Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600) with VB/C# 2005 77633-235-0000007-41121
Strangely, I see "InstallAware 8" in the Installed products of the About box of Visual Studio.
.NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727 SP1
InstallAware 9, Build Moya.sp1.070409.

I tried to attach a .zip file, but it did not succeed.

I tried to upload a .zip file again, but it does not succeed. Is there any email address to which I can send it?

Hi Vuurput,

Odd -- you can email it to me directly at andy.neillans@installaware.com, but make sure it does not contain any dlls or exe as otherwise it will be blocked.

Alternatively, upload it to 4shared.com or something along those lines and send me the link :)
