Evaluating InstallAware

Hello;

I am evaluating InstallAware to use to generate installs for our product and I have some questions;

1.- We have two parts in our product;
a) Platform part (with updates)
b) Solution (depending on platform part with its updates)

What is the better solution in InstallAware ?

2.- I want to update platform or solution in separating form.

3.- The updates/patchs for the solution must be generated in background because the user manages our app and make the changes in it. Can the patch process starts without InstallAware Ide, like batch process ?
