Problems with Transparent Text

Transparent text does not seem to work on Windows 2000

We have just finished setting up a nice corporate theme for our installers and are in the final stages of testing.

And some testers commented that the text had a block background.

After much testing it would seem that this is due to the installer being run on Windows 2000.

Is this correct.

I have a feeling that OS supported transparent text was only introduced in Windows XP.

Is this correct, as I cannot see any information in the Help about this sort of limitation.

Hmmmm, further investigation showed that this does actually occur on WinXP when you have it set to "Classic Windows Theme".


Any Ideas?

Do we have any information on when the transparency does and does not work?

Ahhhhhh!!

Well so much for my previous testing, Please ignore my observations.

So far I have had this issue of blocked out text.

On 1 computer running Windows 2000.

One computer running Windows XP in "Windows Classic" style

Any ideas?

Hi Gareth

From my own experience with theme building, these problems are generally solved when the Transparent property of the labels are set to false and then back to true.

If you take a look at the pre-built InstallAware themes they work correctly with transparencies on all operating systems - not requiring Windows XP.

So, you can set Transparent to false and then back to true, or you can copy-paste the labels in the pre-built themes which already have working transparencies.
