Blue screen crash during install

Hi,

I have a problem with one of our installers made with InstallAware. On one of our client's computers it has caused a BSOD during installation. Windows thinks the product is installed, but none of the files are put in place. The uninstaller crashes or just doesn't do anything.

The client uses a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. On a similar laptop the installer runs without any problems.

At this time we can't uninstall or reinstall the product. Uninstall just doesn't work and running a new build of the installer just tries to run the old uninstall first.

Does anyone have any idea what may have caused the BSOD in the first place?
But more importantly, how can we now remove this messed up installation?

The cause is unknown based on this report. You might want to submit a ticket with Microsoft and they might be able to determine something from the memory dump in the blue screen.

It sounds like the software was installed at one point and it's not clear how it got into this state...

To remove in this situation, I would search the registry for the product name and product code {GUID}, removing entries from the registry. You may also want or need to delete the files that were installed.
