I need to add a dialog to an installation which prompts the user for a port number. The port number is then passed as a parameter to a Windows service. Let's say the user enters port number 30445 for example. Is it possible in IA to determine if access to that port number is available? Perhaps there's some way of determining what might be blocked by any firewall? Maybe there's something I can search in the registry or a plugin that might help?
All I want to do if possible, is warn the user there might be an access problem to the port number at install time.
Can you check if a firewall disallows access to a port?

Thanks Aviv. It's a useful link and offers some possibilities. I'll investigate it further. If I have a wham-bam moment and find a succinct solution you can do in MSIcode I'll post a snippet here.
