MDAC281 Add-in causing an Access Violation

Postby Sean Flook » Mon Jun 24, 2013 4:39 am

I have just upgraded to InstallAware 16 and my projects now do not build with the following error:

Error during build: Access violation at address 00000000. Write of address 00000000

After some investigation I have narrowed it down to the checkmdac281 and setupmdac281 add-ins.

I am able to replicate the issue by using the Sample User Registration and Feedback Example and checking the Microsoft MDAC Refresh 2.8 with Service Pack 1 checkbox from the Application Runtimes page. If I then try the build I get the above error.

I have rebooted the machine as well as re-installing the application, but nothing seems to work.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sean

Dear Sean,

a fix has been released that should solve the problem you reported.

Please reinstall your product using the new version available and regenerate your personal license file to activate it.

With the new build I cannot find how to see the include scripts etc that used to appear in the tree on the left of the app

Dear Sean,

I'm currently installing the new IA 16 update ... but I suspect that you probably have accidentally closed the Left Tree pane window.
Could you post a screenshot?

Regards.

Dear Sean,

you are right ... I found the same.

A new IA update has been made available to solve the issue. It doesn't require license regeneration but you need to reinstall the package.

Alternatively, the Project Manager left tree view pane can be manually placed once again at its default position.
Swith to Project View in IA IDE and click the " Project Manager" button. Anchor the Project Manager tree view pane to the right of the IA IDE.
Switch back to MSICODE view and finally, anchor the Project Manager tree view pane to the left of the IA IDE.

Hope this helps you.
