Hello,
I am using IA 10, and I'd like to remove the translations for localization using the shared strings (Design | Tools | Shared Strings). I see that I can click "Revert" on each using the mTranslator.exe tool, but this will take a very long time for each string (~30 some) on each dialog (4) in 20+ languages. Is there an easier way to revert them all to not use the translation?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,
unfortunately, it is not possible to do differently ... unless you replace the translation files under the IA installation folder with their original version ( ... but you should reinstall IA).

Re: InstallAware Translator: Revert all shared strings
Francesco - Thanks for your response! I don't recall ever changing the translation files, so I would assume they are already the original version. That is rather irksome that IA would use the attempted localizations without my requesting it, especially because they are not translated correctly.
Is there no other way that I could change all these to just use String Meaning, and not do translations? Maybe a way to disable this within the script itself during build time?

Dear Ruth,
due your second post, I'm not quite sure if I understood your starting question correctly.
If I'm not wrong, you don't want to use any localization with your project but a single default language only (... as for example English).
Am I correct?

Re: InstallAware Translator: Revert all shared strings
Yes, that's correct, sorry if that was unclear. I would like to just use English.

Re: InstallAware Translator: Revert all shared strings
Dear Ruth,
just remove all translation files under the Creatives page in IA IDE Design view (... select Creatives under the User Inteface node from the left tree pane).
These files can be easily localized because their are named as;
- "Translations.xxx" (where XXX is the file extension; as language prefixes or MAP / Original ).
- <ProjectName>.Mtx (where <ProjectName> is the the name of the current project as file name.
Finally, set as English your default project language and deselect "Display language selection dialog box" (if any) in IA Project property page.
Once completed the above steps rebuild your project.
Hope this helps you.

Re: InstallAware Translator: Revert all shared strings
Yeah, that is the strange thing - I don't have any translations files anywhere or the MTX file and I just checked and English is my default language as well. There must be something I'm missing here in why it would still display localized strings in the dialogs.
Thanks for your help on this, now that I know it shouldn't be like that, I will more thoroughly look at my environment and settings.
