package with online registration

Postby farangtoone » Tue Apr 24, 2007 9:46 pm

Dear forum surfers,

I am quite new to InstallAware, I am currently using the trial version but I wanna get the licensed version. Now I have 2 questions:

1. I want to be able to use an online registration, can i do that with the developer version?
2. how can i do the online registration? Do i need to put a database online with all the serials or how does it work? I have checked the example file "online user authentication" but i am not really an asp programmer so I don't know how to create that file.

Please help me out,
best regards

Toon

Hi Toon,

You will need to build your own server logic to handle the online registration. The ASP file referred to in the pre-built sample doesn't exist; its just meant as a placeholder.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Do you have any suggestion? php with mysql for example? Would that work?

Sorry, that isn't an installation related question; its not something we can help you with (although we would love to).

I understand but your sample requires a type of file so I have to wonder what your program needs in return. Your program will connect to this page and then what? download the file and then verify the information? Or verify on this page? You must have created this sample code with the intention to make a real program work.

Thanks in advance

If you look at the sample project, you will see that after calling that file, it reads the contents to see if the user is authorized or not. You may also look at your own custom file contents in a similar way.

Am I just being dumb? I can't presently see where within InstallAware this is setup/done.

You cannot see it in Express - you need access to the script.
