installization Errors with converted MSI package

Postby ltjrumut » Fri Sep 09, 2005 9:52 am

Hi,
i have managed to recapture my package and published it like a Single EXE file. then i need to convert it a singe msi file. so i used the Group Policy Wizard and converted it.
Single .exe file can easily and purfectly be installed without ANY errors
BUT the converted version (MSI file) can not be installed errors.
when i started to install it i get errors like these:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Enum\\LEGACY\\MSISERVER\\0000\\Control anahtarına ActiveService değeri yazılamadı. Bu anahtara yeterli erişiminizin olduğunu denetleyin...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Enum\\Root\\LEGACY\\MSISERVER\\0000\\Control anahtarına ActiveService değeri yazılamadı. Bu anahtara yeterli erişiminizin olduğunu denetleyin...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Control\\ServiceCurrent anahtarına değeri yazılamadı. Bu anahtara yeterli erişiminizin olduğunu denetleyin...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\ServiceCurrent anahtarına değeri yazılamadı. Bu anahtara yeterli erişiminizin olduğunu denetleyin...

i am sorry to some texts above is in turkish due to the OS language.
i can pass this errors and continue to installizaton with pressing IGNORE button and it installs successfully. i can run the programs.
My package DOES NOT INCLUDES the REGISTRY KEYS above. i can install my single .exe file without any error. when i convert it MSI then i get these errors. i think the registry settings are added during the conversion. so i can not install it via Active Directory distribution method.
(Group Policy name and version I entered is the same as the Active Directory Settings)
What is the problem?

These keys are not written during the single file conversion process, or by the single file MSI. I suspect something may be wrong with your Active Directory setup?

hi,
as i explained before, i can install my single exe file succesfully. But when i convert it to MSI, it can not work correctly during the install but nevertheless i can install it via pressing the IGNORE button 3-4 times during th einstallisation process.
i think something is wrong in MSI conversion step.
if i can use that setup MSI file correctly i am sure that i can distrubute that package via Active directory. I have tested the distribution process by Adobe acrobat reader.msi file and it worked i distributed the program with AD.
What can i do? what do you advise. please help me.
i will buy this product only if i show the people of me that we can distribute the regenerated MSI package and IA is fit to use in out company.
I use Group Policy Wizard and only fill that wizard's form and push that button. do i have to use spesific operation system or configuration?
i have a CLEAN INSTALL of WINDOWS 2000 PROFESSIONAL
I need your help exteremely.
thanks

Try logging the setup and see what turns out in the setup log.

Are you running the setup silently using the /s command line parameter in the InstallAware Group Policy Wizard?
