When do Merge Modules get installed?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to install a specific merge module before anything else in the installer runs?

I have a merge module which will install a specific driver which is needed before my installer can continue, therefore I need to explicitly install this module at the start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi,

you could create a separate setup for the merge modules then install them first before installing your application.

better yet, you could build the two setups then instruct your application setup to check if the merge modules are installed (and give back a message if they aren't) - this you do by using the 'Is MSI Setup Installed' command (you will need the product guid from the merge modules setup which you will get from the setup's project properties->product code

The merge modules are installed at the Apply Install command. So, if you want the merge modules to get installed at the begining of your setup, follow wileywilly suggestion of creating one separate setup that installs the merge modules and use it silently at the beginning of your main installer if the merge modules are not installed already.
