We have a setup that can function both as a network and client installer. When doing a network install, the setup needs to copy the entire setup data directory to another directory in the target dir so that the clients can run the setup from there. Copy/Move Local Files would be perfect if were recursive, but it's not.
I've tried doing a Find All Files and looping CopyFileA, but it can only copy files to a directory that exists, and CreateDirectoryA can only create a directory if all the directories but the top already exist.
Does anybody know of a way to accomplish this? I can't simply install them because they don't exist until after the setup is built.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
You can create the folder structure in the Files section in design mode. That will add "Create Folder" commands to your MSI code. After the create folder commands, you can use "Move/Copy Files" with *.* to each folder you created. That would surely work.

Since it makes a couple of folders for every file, this would be very, very tedious, and would have to be redone if we changed our installation at all. Is there something I'm missing here?
Also, how does InstallAware decide the layout of the installation data directory? Is there any way to simplify this diredctory layout?
Thanks for the help!

nw,
When you create a folder in the following way:
Create Folder C:\\Test1\\Test2\\Test3\\Test4
and none of the folders Test exists, all the specified tree will be created, from Test1 to Test4

Yes, but is there a way to avoid creating each folder individually?
I have a directory structure that needs to be copied to the target installation directory. This directory structure is several levels deep. I don't want to have to maintain this structure via the installer.
Is there any way to copy an entire directory and all of it's subdirectories via the Installer?
