Another simple Question
Another simple Question
Ok, I have spoken with "tech support" and all they said was write a script. (Not certain thats a great answer for a product that costs this much but what the heck.) My question then is this, where do I find documentation on writing a script in IA? I see absolutely nothing in the help or on this site. Surely if everyone is forced to writing scripts then IA should have some sort of documentation shouldn't they?

I take it from yourother post that you need to add a script to Installaware that will check is a product is installed and if not then install it. This should be quite simple. Something you will want to do before starting this is add the VISTO install to yoru support directory which can be done through the creatives or the MIScode Viewer and right clicking the "Support Files' option and select add support files.
1. From the MSI Viewer on the left hand side there should be an item called "Include Scripts" right click this option and select add script. This will create a blank script that you can add to your main script rutine when you are done writing it.
2. On the new script you can then either drag or type the "Read Registry" MSIcode
3. You will need to know what registry key is writen to tell if VSTO is installed
4. Type or drag the "If" option and create and if statement such as:
If variable VSTOREGKEY not equal VALUE
5. Type or Drag the "Run Program As" option under the "If" statement. Set the options you want in this menu, making sure to tell it to start in the $SUPPORTDIR$ directotry to ensure that the exe will run
6. Type or Drap the end statement. This should finishes off this smalled script for you. Next you will want to add it to your main script.
7. The easiest way to know where to add this script is if you have any runtime all ready added to your script from the MIS code viewer search from the line "Include Script: setup" once in this area ust type or drop the "Include Script" option and select the script that you just created.
This should be all you need to do.
This is just a very simple example of what you can do to accomplish what you need. If you decied you want to you can spit your script up into two parts one that checks if VSTO is installed and the other to install it. For examples of doing this if you have any runtime all ready attached to your prjuect look at their script files both the check and setup. These should give you some idea of what else you can do.
I hope this helped and I didn't just confuse you anymore.
