CONDITIONAL Web Media Block

Post by puckkk »

My setup has two feature: the client UI feature and the sql datatabse feauture. user can chhos to install both or just the client UI (using a database prevoiusly installed on another machine). Question is: hoc can i conditionally define the installation of the sql express server 2005 engine in IA? If I put in the prerequiste, sql 2005 is downlaoded from my site at the begininning of the setup, so user that want to just install the client UI has to wait for the download even if the setup will not use it (cause the components tree dialogs appear later). So I need to downlaod the sql block and install the sql instance only if the user want the database part of the software? How can I do it? Do I have to use the downlaod plugin? Is not possible to do that with the media blocks?

I have the same question.

I am trying to do the same thing. I want to show a panel to the user asking them whether they want to use their own SQL server or install SQL 2005 and then do it. I have it working where it will install but it shows no progress during the SQL 2005 install. I copied the code from the checkSQL2005 include script and pasted it into my main script to get the install to happen but I cannot get the progress to work..

puckkk,

Move the "Include Script:setupsql" inside an if block at the beginning of the "Perform First Time or Maintenance Installation" region.

crisc,
The "Include Script:setupsql" needs to be after a progress dialog has already been displayed.

I am also trying to allow my user to choose whether or not to install SQL Express. I defined the Web Media Block for SQL Express in an if block, followed by the "Include script: setupSQL2005" command, but as the documentation mentions, the command is not constrained by conditional execution blocks. Meaning, it is downloading regardless of the user's choice.

Worse, after I build the web build and try to use it, it is downloading the sql package fine but then errors out with "unable to find plugin library".

Question for IA: can we control inclusion of web media blocks or not? If so, how?
