I have created my very first installation package. It only contains a sample executable and a folder containing some data. It is a very simple application: no extra requirements or registry settings needed. Now when I run the installer I get the error 'Could not write value VersionMinor to key \\Products\\A75...\\Installproperties. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel'. I get the same error on Vista and on Xp and I am the administrator. I can ignore the error and the application runs normally. I created this install package using the 'Project Wizzard'. The strange thing is if I use the 'Quick Start' option the installer works fine.
I am using InstallAware 7 R2 Express edition, running on XP inside VMWare.

Re: Could not write VersionMinor error during install
Thanks it has - in my Project version I had put 8.3.13 as only numbers are permitted but having created a build and elected to use group policy I was able to put the version in as 8.3m (being the application developer version) (m is 13 letter of the alphabet). Subsequent install of this project reported "Install error - Could not write value VersionMinor to key \Products\EDDC4B0936BE40C458DA2A7FD\InstallProperties. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel " - so it would seem that I shall have to reform my ways...again
