Relative path for files

Post by jonathannah »

When I add files to the install, it uses absolute path (ie. C:\\MyDir\\Foo.dll'). I would like this to be relative to the the folder that contains the install script (i.e. '..\\..\\Release\\Foo.dll'). How do you do this?

I solved this problem using the predefined compiler variable 'PROJDIR' as follows: #PROJDIR#\\..\\..\\Release\\Foo.dll"

I was forced to do the same thing to achieve relative paths. Why is this the case? This does not seem to work for the Install Service command. I have searched this forumn and there are many posts on this topic but non are very specific about the recomended why to implement. Does the current path start at the project file or at the build location??? Somebody from IA please post the best practice here.
