Need to change destination filename

Post by cjoyce »

Is there an way to change the destination filename? My source filename is different than what needs to be copied to the target system. Thanks in advance.

The best way would be to rename the file in your clean install folder that your script reads the files from to create the install package. If you can't this for some reason, you can use "Call dll" and call "MoveFileA" in kernel32.dll. Rember to rename the file to the original name just before uninstall so the windows installer engine will remove it.

Thanks Jim. That sure is messy, prone to error and not very easy for a simple task. I'll probably just rename the source file.

I tend to agree with cjoyce on this one. i have used Wise in the past and it allows a file to be installed with any destination name. I used this option quite a bit because in Wise.

However i think the solution described above will do the job for me. Just seems like an obvious oversight.

Am liking InstallAware.
