silent uninstall...

Post by liddicott »

I have found a post on how to silent install my installer:

Code: Select all

MyInstaller.exe /s TARGETDIR="C:\\Program Files\\My Company\\My Product" ALLUSERS=True MyCustomVariable=Darklord

How I just have a question, if a previous version of the application is present then will it automatically silent uninstall the application and then automatically start the silent install?

If NOT could you please provide me with the syntax to silent uninstall a previous version so that this can be run prior to running the silent install

Thanks in advance

silent uninstall

I would say so. If you run a silent install, and it finds a previous installation, it uninstalls the old version and then installs the new one.

Tu run a silent uninstall manually, I would use the following commandline (haven't tested it though) :
MyOldInstaller.exe /s MODIFY=false REMOVE=true

instead of MyOldInstaller.exe you could also store the content of $UNINSTALLINK$ during the initial install somewhere and use this.
That's something like :
"C:\\Dokumente und Einstellungen\\[username]\\Lokale Einstellungen\\Anwendungsdaten\\{[product GUID]}\\NameOfInstaller.exe"
