Creating single MSI file

Post by wfox »

Is it possible to create a single MSI file that could be deployed by a software distribution package like SMS? THe MSI need not contain any prerequisites as they can be handled within SMS itself.

Yes. Use the Group Policy wizard to create the MSI. You can also do it from the command line after the EXE has been created. You will find details of how to use it in the manual.

Can somebody point me to the documentation for calling Group Policy from the command line? I need to be able to automate it and I haven't found instructions for doing so in the available docs.

For future searchers: It's in the help file - in the IDE, press F1 then search for "group policy" and there's a subheading under the Group Policy Wizard help entry entitled, "Using the Group Policy Wizard from the Command Line."
