Strange issue with consecutive builds

Post by eugen.cocalea »

I have (let's say) 5 builds of the same product. Between builds 3 and 4, there are some changes related to the way the files are installed. Build 3 is using an Install Files for each file needed for the installation, Build 4 uses wildcards to get *.dll, *.xml and so on. Those are the only significant changes done to the installer.

a. I install build 1. Running build 2 of the installer uninstalls build 1 then proceeds with installing build 2. Running build 4 uninstalls build 1 then proceeds with installing build 4.
b. I install build 4. Running build 5 gives me the maintenance dialog with the 'Repair' button checked. Proceeding with 'Repair' does about nothing (altough the UI of the installer behaves correctly, the installer does actually nothing) leaving build 4 in place. Running build 4 behaves the same but it actually repairs the app.

Any thoughts?

Hi Eugen,

sounds like you didn't generate a new revision code GUID for revision 5?
