Shortcuts sequence

Post by d.g »

I have created a installer for my application with multiple shortcuts like

AllPrograms>CompanyName>Productname>shortcut1,shortcut2,shortcut3,shortcut4
Every time I run it on different machine shortcuts appears randomly.

I want to fix the order of these shortcuts

Please help

Hi d.g

how exactly did you create the shortcuts?
I create multiple shortcuts one after one like this:

Code: Select all

   Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\\Uninstall PointLine2D to $UNINSTALLLINK$
   Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\\PointLine2D to $TARGETDIR$\\bin\\PointLine2D.exe
   Create Shortcut $DESKTOPDIR$\\PointLine2D to $TARGETDIR$\\bin\\PointLine2D.exe
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\\Search for Updates now to $UNINSTALLLINK$
So far without any problem.

Reading your post, one could imagine you tried to create multiple shortcuts with a single statement?

Can you switch to the code view and have a look, or are you using the express edition?

There's an img tag in your post. Did you post a printscreen? If so, please retry, as I don't see the image.

If you don't have it, download Orca from Microsoft and install it. Using Orca, open the .msi file and look in the Shortcut table. What does it look like in there? The Name column you'll recognise and you can then chase the Directory column to its equivalent in the Directory table. Maybe there is something in the tables that will give you a clue?
