I am getting the following error when trying to generate a patch against an old build. It was built on another computer, but should still be the same version of IA.
Error during build: Unable to create patch database [TargetImages.Target = 'TARGET1': ProductVersion is not valid.]
Thanks,
~ Steve

The error is pretty clear (fortunately in the case of patching, MSI API errors generally are). Make sure you have a valid version - numeric only in the form of X.YY.ZZZ.

No, but MSI takes only the first three version numbers into account, so maybe you can increment one of the first three numbers so the patch engine recognizes it as a new version. According to Microsoft docs, any information after the first three numbers are discarded; so I'm hoping this helps. If it does not, in that case, you will really need to update the original package - of course this might not be practically feasible, but there is no alternative.
